Open Question: What does it take to become a wedding/event planner?

I live in Kentucky right now and I'm working on a degree in accounting. However, my boyfriend is wanting us to move to Cali in a few years so he can go to school for game design. He is also about to come into quite a lot of inheritance money and told me once he does I don't have to worry about working. I really like the sound of that but I want something to do in my free time while he is gone.
